Consider the Wildflowers

Book of the Month: November

This month, I had the amazing opportunity to read an ARC copy of J.O. Ellis’s debut novel, “How the Fox Runs”. This book is one of the most creative I have read in a long time. I have always been a fan of fantasy, but sometimes the genre has a tendency to produce books that feel too similar to me. However, that was not the case with this book! This was highly imaginative, original, and fast-paced. The world that Ellis has created is unlike any I have read in a fantasy novel before. From the prologue, I was hooked. J.O. Ellis has a beautiful writing style that I found extremely impressive and enjoyable to read.

I really loved the magical elements and the concept of traveling between different realms. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, something would change! It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

I will say there is a lot of romance in this book, and I sometimes felt it overshadowed the creative plot. But that is just a personal preference! I am not a huge fan of romance, and I always prefer it to be a sub-plot; but if you love fantasy with heavy romance elements, you will absolutely love this book!

My rating: 4/5 stars

Thank you to J.O. Ellis and Paperback Hart Press for the ARC!
